This July, shu uemura launched a "real-glass" AI beauty mirror at its Tokyo flagship store. Customers use a stylus shaped like a makeup brush to start a facial scan, and the mirror analyzes their face shape and features to give personalized makeup advice.
Unlike most "smart mirrors" on the market that rely on cameras and screens, this one works differently: users see their own real reflection, with AI effects layered directly onto it – not a camera feed on a screen. The AI layer sits beneath the glass, not in front of it .
Even with AI features added, a mirror still needs to be a real mirror. The texture of a true reflection, without delay or distortion, is something no screen can replace.
This is exactly what LGDD has been doing all along. When a mirror can help you with makeup, analyze your skin, and act as a service window – it's no longer just a mirror. But no matter how "smart" a mirror becomes, the most fundamental value – stable, clear, true reflection – is always the foundation for any feature built on top of it. We choose to start from the ground up, making sure the mirror itself can stand up to daily use.
