Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar every year.
This festival has a long history and rich cultural connotation. The origin of the Dragon Boat Festival can be traced back to the Warring States period more than 2,500 years ago, and was established in honor of the great poet Qu Yuan.
Legend has it that Qu Yuan, a great patriotic poet in Chinese history, had a high political reputation but was driven out of the imperial court because he was not satisfied with the power struggle. After leaving the capital, he complained about the political darkness and missed his hometown, and eventually threw himself into the river.
In order to prevent Qu Yuan's remains from being eaten by fish, the people went to the river to drop zongzi to attract the fish away from his remains. Since then, May 5 has become a festival to honor Qu Yuan and is passed down to this day.
During the Dragon Boat Festival, people make and eat zongzi, race dragon boats, hang mugwort, and in some places there are folk activities such as stilt walking. These activities symbolize the commemoration of Qu Yuan and expression of patriotic feelings, which is also a precious heritage of Chinese culture.
Our company will take a 3 days holiday from June 8th to June 10th to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.
We hope everyone can enjoy gourmet food and fun on this special day. We also remind everyone to pay attention to safety and avoid accidents. Once again, we wish you all a happy Dragon Boat Festival!
