New Year's Eve custom
 

New Year's Eve is the eve of the Spring Festival and the most important traditional festival in China. As a family reunion day, people all over the country will return home to reunite with their families. There are many customs on New Year's Eve.
In ancient times, people found that Nian was most afraid of red and noise when they drove it away. So every New Year's Eve, will stick red spring couplets, set off firecrackers. On New Year's Eve, the elders will give the younger generation some New Year's money, the ancients are very particular about New Year's money, to use the red rope will be larger new copper money into various shapes, some will wear hundreds of copper money, take its "long life hundred years" meaning; On New Year's Eve, many children stay up with their adults until the early hours of the morning and don't fall asleep until the Spring Festival is coming. Pasting Fu character is also a traditional custom on New Year's Eve. Many places also have the tradition of pasting Fu character upside down.
