Electronic products, especially home appliances, often need to pass EMC, FCC, EFT and other tests when they leave the factory. These tests require professional equipment, and products that pass these tests are often not guaranteed to be reliable in the actual application environment.

We have summarized some methods that can simulate the performance of touch-sensitive panels in actual use environments. Under the conditions of research and development and small-volume trial production, we can know the performance of touch-sensitive panels. Hope to discuss with you.

1: Wet environment test.

testing method:

Steam the touch sensor panel to be tested with water vapor until the panel is full of dew. Observe whether there is any malfunction or slow response.

2: temperature test

This test is familiar to everyone.

Use an oven or hair dryer to heat, and use a refrigerator or freezer for cooling.

3: Power interference test.

Long-term operation of electrical equipment will be disturbed by noise on the power grid, especially when there is a lightning strike and large electrical equipment nearby are started or stopped.

test tools:

Use fluorescent lamps above 40W that use old-fashioned "jump bulbs" and reactors.

Electronic ballasts and energy-saving lamps cannot be used because they cannot form a strong 600-800V high-voltage pulse group on the power grid and cannot simulate interference sources.

testing method:

Plug the fluorescent lamp with the old-fashioned reactor and the power supply of the induction panel into the same power socket, repeatedly turn on and off the fluorescent lamp to make the "jump bubble" constantly "jump", and observe the response of the touch sensor panel.

Many touch-sensitive panels will malfunction under this test condition.

4: Electromagnetic interference test

4.1

Test tool: GSM mobile phone (Ericsson’s mobile phone has strong signal and large radiation. Suitable for testing tools) CDMA mobile phone has low radiation and is not suitable for use.

Test principle: mobile phones are currently the most common source of radio frequency interference.

Test method: After canceling the vibration of the mobile phone, place it on the insulating panel of the touch-sensitive panel, then power on the touch-sensitive panel, and dial the phone number repeatedly to observe the response of the touch-sensitive panel.

This is also a difficult test that is difficult for touch-sensing design to pass.

4.2

Test tool: above 100W, incandescent lamp dimming lamp using SCR phase shift trigger dimming.

Test principle: When the thyristor is triggered by a phase shift, a steep edge will be generated on the sine wave of the 220V power supply, and the power line of the lamp will emit high-order harmonics.

testing method:

Place the power cord of the lamp on the insulating panel of the capacitive touch sensor panel, and then power on the touch sensor panel. Turn on the dimming light and adjust the light intensity at will. Observe the response of the capacitive touch sensor panel.

(Note: The power cord must be placed first before turning on the touch sensor panel power supply, otherwise the touch sensor panel will react to the approaching metal wire. For capacitive touch sensor panels, the proximity of the metal wire will also be regarded as a finger Touch)
