IR Sensor, or Infrared Sensor, is a sensor that uses infrared rays for detection and ranging. The following is a detailed explanation of its principle and its application on LED Smart Mirror:

First, the principle of infrared sensor

IR Sensor is mainly composed of infrared emitting diode and infrared receiving diode. Its working principle is as follows:

Infrared emission: infrared emitting diode inside a solid material, when the current flows through, it will make the material to occur the energy band jump of the electron, from the low energy level jumps to the high energy level, at the same time releasing energy, producing infrared radiation.

Infrared reception and conversion: infrared radiation irradiated to the object, will be reflected back and received by the infrared receiver diode. The semiconductor material inside the infrared receiving diode interacts with the infrared radiation, resulting in a jump of free electrons within the material, generating a voltage and thus an output electrical signal.

Signal Processing: The received electrical signals are transmitted to a subsequent signal processor for amplification, filtering, denoising and other operations to better extract the required information. The processed signal can be used to control other devices or provided to the user.

2.the application of infrared sensors in LED smart mirror

Infrared sensors are mainly applied to human body detection and action recognition on LED smart mirror, so as to realize the intelligent control of LED smart mirror. Specific applications are as follows:

Human body detection: infrared sensors can emit infrared rays and receive the reflected infrared rays, through the calculation of the time difference between the emission and reception of infrared rays or signal strength changes, the presence of the human body can be detected. When the human body is close to the LED smart mirror, the infrared sensor will sense it and trigger the corresponding control program.

Action Recognition: By continuously detecting the changes in the infrared signal reflected from the human body, the infrared sensor can recognize the human body's actions, such as waving and nodding. These actions can be converted into control commands for controlling the switch, brightness adjustment, function switching and other operations of the LED smart mirror.
